Transforming Communication for North Lincs Aggregates

Discover how Ninehundred Communications enhanced efficiency and connectivity with the 900PTT system.

70 Vehicle Fleet The Challenge

North Lincs Aggregates needed a reliable communication solution to connect their transport office, quarries, and fleet of vehicles nationwide. Initially, they trialled an analogue radio system with a repeater to extend coverage. While effective to a degree, the system struggled with drivers frequently dropping out of range. Expanding coverage with additional infrastructure was a costly option, prompting the search for a more efficient alternative

Our Solution

Ninehundred recommended a trial of the newly launched 900PTT IP501H handsets. These devices allowed instantaneous, high-quality voice communication from anywhere in the UK without requiring additional infrastructure. Six handsets were provided, along with comprehensive training to ensure smooth adoption. The system offered seamless individual and group calling, effectively addressing all their communication challenges.

Recognising the potential of the mobile variant, North Lincs Aggregates eagerly awaited the release of the IP501M mobile units. Once available, Ninehundred’s installation engineers equipped over 70 vehicles—including tippers, loaders, transport vehicles, and 4x4s—with the system. This fleet-wide integration enabled instant, nationwide communication between quarries, weighbridges, the transport office, and dispatchers.

How We Helped

Office-based staff benefited from the system’s mapping functionality, allowing them to track the real-time location of all vehicles. This visibility streamlined operations, improved dispatching accuracy, and ensured smoother coordination between teams across the UK.

With the 900PTT system, North Lincs Aggregates achieved reliable, cost-effective communication across their entire fleet and office operations. The system eliminated coverage issues, reduced delays, and enhanced coordination, ensuring their business runs more efficiently than ever before.
