At Tarmac’s Mountsorrel Quarry, slips, trips, and falls were among the most common incidents reported, with poor lighting on staircases and walkways being a significant contributing factor. Employees working at various hours in different lighting conditions faced an increased risk of accidents, especially in poorly lit operational areas. It became clear that improving the lighting in these spaces was essential for reducing incidents and ensuring the safety of everyone on site.

Ninehundred introduced the 900Eco Stair-Safe, an eco-friendly lighting solution designed to enhance safety on the quarry’s walkways and staircases. The system was specifically designed to illuminate these high-risk areas, ensuring that they remained well-lit at all times, regardless of the time of day or weather conditions. The 900Eco Stair-Safe uses solar-powered LED light bars that are triggered by a push button when natural light is insufficient, eliminating the need for traditional electricity-powered lighting and contributing to the site’s sustainability goals.

This intelligent, hands-off design enhances convenience and ensures that the system remains operational without requiring constant monitoring or manual control. The result is a safe, sustainable, and highly efficient lighting solution that meets the specific needs of the Mountsorrel Quarry while contributing to the wider goal of reducing environmental impact.
