Upgrading Argos’ Communication System for a High-Demand Environment

Delivering a reliable and efficient digital radio solution to enhance communication in Argos' 24/7 distribution centre.

The Challenge

Argos, a leading multi-channel retailer, operates over 650 stores across the UK and Republic of Ireland, serving millions of customers annually. Their previous fleet of analogue radios was outdated, with insufficient channels to support daily operations. The radios were also failing due to the demanding conditions of their busy, 24/7 distribution centre. A more reliable and effective communication solution was needed.

Our Solutions

Ninehundred Communications conducted on-site trials and coverage tests to determine the best solution. We recommended and installed a Motorola Mototrbo digital two-way radio system, featuring a Motorola DR3000 Repeater for extended site coverage. The selected Motorola DP1400 digital radios offered a cost-effective, robust solution with crystal-clear audio, reduced background noise, and 40% longer battery life.

How We Helped

By implementing the new digital radio system, we provided Argos with seamless and uninterrupted communication across the entire site. The improved radios ensure clear voice transmission despite the high levels of background noise in the distribution centre. Designed for industrial use, the robust Mototrbo radios withstand harsh conditions, ensuring reliable daily operation.

What They Had To Say

“Ninehundred Communications look after a number of our sites and I must say that their recommendations were spot on first time, they let us try the system for a few weeks to check for blind spots and to see if the ambient noise was an issue. Neither were a problem and we can now carry on our daily tasks faster and more efficiently. I would recommend them to anyone”.
