A fully integrated security and infrastructure system to support Yorkshire’s first University Technical College.

The Challenge

Sheffield UTC, Yorkshire’s first University Technical College, is a £9.9m state-of-the-art facility designed to prepare students for careers in engineering and digital industries. The new facility combines a modern four-story structure with the carefully refurbished Victorian Sydney building, a former silversmiths. To ensure a secure and efficient learning environment, the college required a fully integrated security and communication solution.

Our Solutions

Ninehundred Communications was appointed by the project’s M&E contractor, NWE Npower, to deliver a turnkey solution encompassing multiple disciplines. Our scope of work included Access Control, Intruder Alarms, CCTV, Intercom, Disabled Refuge, and a Structured Cable Network.

Working closely with key contractors and the end client, we designed a system that was both cost-effective and highly reliable. We selected industry-leading technologies from Honeywell, ACT, Dedicated Micros, and Commend—proven systems already implemented successfully throughout the Sheffield College network by Ninehundred Communications Group.
