Cancer Research UK Events
The largest annual events programme in the UK
Cancer Research UK’s Events Team delivers a variety of events throughout the year including Race for Life – 5K, 10K, Pretty Muddy and Shine - the UK’s largest fundraising event series.
We're proud to have played our part in helping their team deliver successful and memorable events.
We've been working with the Events Team at Cancer Research UK since 1994 when the very first Race For Life events took place, initially providing fully supported two way radio hire services.
Since then, the Events Team at the charity has developed a range of event types and have evolved to host the largest events programme of any kind in the UK. Upon that journey, we've worked together to make continuous improvements to satisfy the demanding requirements placed upon their event management; variable event environments, variable coverage areas, variable terrains and of course the unpredictable British weather!
Ninehundred Communications have been our trusted partner for the Provision of communications at our events since our first Race for Life Event in 1994. Our Events Series has rapidly grown to the biggest series of Events in the Country.
Ninehundred's Support has been key to making our events as successful as they are. They always provide the latest equipments and the service and support of their staff is second to none which in turn helps our events programme run so smoothly. Their Staff who work on our events often go above the normal call of duty and we are most grateful for the support and service they give to CR UK.
To support the needs of an ever changing and demanding events schedule, the Cancer Research UK Events Team face many challenges to ensure efficient communication and safety - this is how we've helped:
Recognised as one of the market leaders in our field, we were one of the earliest adopters of digital two way radios, choosing Motorola's Mototrbo™ radios and in 2010 added 1000 Mototrbo™ radios to our hire fleet for use by Cancer Research UK. Providing an instant impact upon how the Events Team communicated, this upgrade made a significant impact upon their operations, benefiting from improved performance, better audio, better range, better battery life and improved weather resistance. With newer models arriving in the Mototrbo™ range the newer, enhanced handsets offer even more performance and efficiency.
Whilst high quality radio equipment is important, our account managers, customer service team, engineering support and field engineers all contribute to provide the Cancer Research UK Events Team with robust and flexible radio systems capable of adapting from the smallest to the largest events.
In addition to providing two way radios and engineering support at these events, as our product portfolio and technology has evolved we have also been able to provide the charity with other events solutions, providing support with CCTV and Satellite Solutions.
Most recently we are seeing a high demand for our 900PTT (Push To Talk over Cellular) product range which provides the team with a user experience very similar to using a two way radio but with transmission over the mobile phone network.
Our PTT service has brought a number of benefits to the charity:
- UK wide coverage - wherever the mobile network covers
- No need to request permissions and related access to install infrastructure
- No engineering costs to install and manage infrastructure on site
