The 900 Eco Stair-Safe wins an award!
The implementation of our 900Eco Stair-Safe at Tarmac’s Mountsorrel site has won a MPA Health and Safety Award. Being awarded ‘Highly Commended’ for the Safer Management of Pedestrians and Transport on Site.
About The Awards:
The Mineral Products Association (MPA) is the trade association for the aggregates, asphalt, cement, concrete, dimension stone, lime, mortar and silica sand industries. The awards enable the industry to learn about and share the innovations and good practices that improve health, safety, and wellbeing in the workplace. Many of the entries highlighted in the awards from previous years have now been widely adopted across the mineral products industry.
About Tarmac’s Mountsorrel Site:
Mountsorrel Quarry is a large granite quarry, locally and nationally renowned for its distinctive pink rock, this exceptionally hard stone that has been used throughout the country.
Our Solution:
Poor lighting on walkways, staircases, and access points is one of the leading causes of trips, slips, and falls on operational sites. Due to the various hours that employees work on-site, it is vital to ensure that these areas are light and hazard free. Increasing lighting and visibility will help eliminate the risk of these injury types.
Using our 900Eco Stair-Safe we were able to manufacture and install an eco-friendly solution that reduced this risk on site, illuminating the walkway to create a safe and sustainable workspace. The angled LED lights help reduce light pollution for the surrounding areas whilst also preventing shadows within the work area, ensuring that the steps are illuminated at any time
Sustainability
The 900Eco Stair-Safe ensures site sustainability by running entirely through solar power provided by the fixed solar panel. This eliminates the ongoing running costs for electricity which conventional lighting is powered by. When natural light is no longer sufficient, the timed push buttons trigger the LED light bars and illuminate the stairway to create a safer working environment.
